Mouse Button Test

Test the responsiveness of each individual mouse button — useful when you suspect one specific button (not the whole mouse) is misbehaving.

Click each button on your mouse to test it. Right-click won't open a menu here.

Side buttons aren't present on every mouse, and some browsers or operating systems may intercept them before this page sees them.

How to Use This Test

  1. Focus on one button at a time rather than clicking randomly.
  2. Click it repeatedly at a normal pace and watch the counter increase consistently.
  3. If the counter skips, lags, or double-counts a single press, that button may have a hardware issue.

Understanding Your Results

A healthy button increases its counter by exactly one per press, every time. If you notice the count jumping by two on a single press, or not increasing at all on some presses, that's worth investigating on that specific button — try our double-click test for a more detailed look at unintended double registrations.

About the Mouse Button Test

This page uses the same detection as our general mouse test, but the framing is deliberately narrower: it's meant for isolating and stress-testing one button at a time rather than checking your whole mouse at a glance.

Tips to Improve

Test the suspect button 15–20 times in a row and count manually to cross-check against the on-screen counter.

Compare behavior across all buttons — if only one behaves oddly, it points toward that specific switch rather than the whole mouse or your system.

Frequently Asked Questions

It's the same underlying detection, focused on testing one button thoroughly rather than checking every button at once.

That pattern often indicates a worn mouse switch. Try our double-click test for a closer look at the timing between registrations.
